Hello World!

Here it is: My first blog post ever!

I’ve loved crafting ever since I can remember (still have tubs of artwork from when I was little), and I’m constantly trying new crafts techniques. Here are just a few of my favorite things:

  1. Sewing I’ve been sewing since I was a little girl. It started out as 4-H projects and now I sew both for fun and for competitions. I use Pattern Review to share some of my finished sewing projects, but this blog will be where I share more details about the process!
  2. Knitting I didn’t start knitting until I was about 13, but I haven’t stopped since! I also crochet, although not quite as well. Typically, I knit anything I want to be fancy, or wearable, and apply my crochet skills to making amigurumi. Most my projects are on Ravelry, but I’ll share knitting-related things here occasionally.
  3. Art I’m not sure exactly when little kids’ drawings stop being scribbles and start being art, but I’ve loved drawing for a long, long time. I don’t share everything I draw with everyone, or anyone, but it’s fun to show some of my favorite pieces as I finish them.
  4. Random Crafts Oh, boy! Where do I even begin? I’ve dabbled in chainmaille jewelry, hat making, stamp carving, whittling, calligraphy (even making my own pens), wirework, beading, embroidery, cake decorating, planting terrariums… It’s a long list. If I haven’t tried it, it’s probably cost prohibitive (stained glass) or too messy to do anywhere but in a designated studio (pottery).
  5. Costumes Finally, I absolutely love making costumes, and they tend to be a way to put all my other hobbies to good use. In any given year, I’ll have more Halloween costumes ready to go than I have places to wear them. But they’re so much fun!
